How was cooking camp ?
The answer is a lot of fun but hard work. We met at the hall bright and early, picked up the food and trailor then headed off to camp, arriving a bit after 9am. Other troops from the district had come in the night before so we were the last in.
Tim, who was organising the camp, met us with a smile and soon we were setting up. Starting with a fire (to make coals for cooking), then our kitchen fly and gear, then the tents.
Lunch consisted of pizza and baked (very baked) potatoes.
Dinner, the main part of the competition, was hot pita bread and dip, followed by Lamb stew with fetta dumplings followed by chocky sauce. Oops should have said pudding but it was a tad under cooked so sauce covers the description better. Leaders all swapped troops and acted as the judges.
Marshmallows, wide games, chatting and meeting new friends rounded out the night before an eventual rather chilly bed.
Sunday it was up early and we were back home for lunch. How good is that !! For some it was then straight off to Showtime.
A good result - 19th Camberwell came a close second. Well done to PLs Bendan and Sarah and the rest of the patrol Emma, Nick, Miles and Whitney.
