Next week is Ice Blocking! It is going to be lots of fun. It will be a casual competition format (but with prizes!) and also some free and easy Ice Blocking down the hill at the Edit: Scout Hall (due to bad weather forecasts). Drop off and pick up will be at the Edit: Scout Hall. Seeing as the last Scout Meeting was fun, and we had new friends join in too, everyone is encouraged to bring a friend again next week if they're interested. They'll have to make their own Ice Block though, unless you are willing to share.
Details:
Drop Off: 7.15 pm. Upon arrival, please don't start Ice Blocking. Look for Tjon.
Pick up: 9.00 pm
Equipment needed: Old Clothes (No Uniform Required), towel (to sit on the Ice Block), helmet for safety. Nobody is allowed to Ice Block without a helmet.
Location: Edit: Scout Hall
MAKE YOUR OWN BLOCK!!
Half the fun of Ice Blocking is making your own Ice Block. We encourage everyone to make their own Ice Block, or they will miss out on the fun! (BTW, the Leaders are not capable of making Ice Blocks for everyone, so there won't be spares). If you are really tight on freezer space, you can try contacting your friends to get help. Not more than 2 Scouts are allowed to share 1 Ice Block. Here is a good link with instructions on how to do make your own Ice Block. It needs at least 4 days to make, so please get started ASAP.
Handy tips from experienced people:
- Don't put the rope too low (i.e. don't make the first layer to thin), as the ice will melt the rope will reach the ground, causing lots of friction and slowing you down.
- The 30 cm thickness in the guide is a minimum. The thicker the better, as you will get to go longer.
If you have any questions, you can call Tjon at 0433 835 002. See you Scouts next week!
